Depokos Pizza : Portland

All of the pies we’ve tasted are excellent, from the minimalist za’atar (a thin but crunchy veneer of sesame seeds, herbs and spices) to the voluptuous, almost-a-casserole-on-a-crust special of pork pibil, mozzarella, Cotija, onions and cilantro. Though the toppings are enchanting, it’s mostly the crust that keeps us coming to the rough-and-tumble eruption of food carts at North Killingsworth and Greely, where Depokos Pizza is the anchor.  Oregonlive.com – Read More>

Ken’s Artisan Pizza

The first thing you see when you walk into Ken’s Artisan Pizza on Burnside is a large, neat stack of firewood that fits in so well with the restaurant decor that it actually took me a while to realize that it was the same wood that was being used to …Read the Rest

Al Forno Ferruzza Pizza

My love affair with Al Forno Ferruza is not just with the food. It started one summer afternoon when neighbor Kate and I went out for a walk. We stumbled across what used to be an Ethiopian grocery store and noticed it was being redone by some new occupants. Well, …Read the Rest

American Dream Pizza – NE Portland

Fantastic pizza!  My son’s friend always raves about this pizza place.  So today we finally stopped in to give it a try.  My parents, my kids, my husband and I ordered a Large (huge!) pizza and it was more than enough to fill us all up.  My dad enjoyed a …Read the Rest

Oasis Cafe Pizza – Portland – Hawthorne

The Oasis Cafe is on SE Hawthorne in Portland Oregon, just down the block from Powell’s, and across the street from the Bagdad theater. I love and hate this slice of Hawthorne. Love because of Powell’s and because there’s good people-watching and bustle and it’s groovy. Hate because it reminds …Read the Rest

Mama Mia Trattoria

This place was recommended to me as a great place to take my vegetarian friend and I have to agree. The food overall was very good, there was a lot of it, and the logistics were efficient.   The gnocchi with pesto sauce was very tasty and not too heavy. …Read the Rest

I recently had the opportunity to eat at one of the more interesting pizza places in town. Dove Vivi opened last summer close to the corner of NE 28th and Glisan in that odd little mini-mall pocket opposite Plaid Pantry and kitty corner to Pambiche, the Cuban restaurant. It’s a …Read the Rest

Ciao Down

I DON’T HAVE KIDS. I don’t live in Beaumont or Alameda or Irvington. And I’m ridiculously picky about the quality of any pasta or pizza that’s set in front of me. Which is why Lucca, a family-friendly neighborhood joint on the corner of NE Fremont and 24th that specializes in …Read the Rest
